Dr med vet Kathrin Brinker

PhD, FTA

Dr Kathrin Brinker brings nearly 30 years of elite international veterinary experience to our team. After graduating from Germany’s renowned Hannover University, Kathrin completed a PhD. She then undertook a demanding five-year clinical residency to achieve her German board certification (Fachtierarzt / FTA) in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery. While this advanced European qualification sits outside standard NZ registration boundaries, it represents an elite tier of multidisciplinary clinical expertise, offering a depth of advanced training well beyond standard postgraduate certificates.

Kathrin is a proven leader in veterinary excellence; she founded Auckland’s highly successful Ellerslie Veterinary Clinic, which won the prestigious Australasian “Clinic of the Year” award in 2022.

Now proudly calling Christchurch home, Kathrin loves exploring the South Island with her family. She is a passionate animal lover both at work and at home, and she and her family are sharing their lives with dog Summer, cat Ossi, and horses Rocky, Angus and Brian.
